2. This is a direct assault against consumers' home recording rights

Audio Broadcast Flag Licensing Act of 2006

1. Would prohibit unauthorized copying and redistribution of transmitted content
2. Nothing to do with Piracy

Copyright Modernization Act of 2006

1. Gives the recording industry veto power over new technologies
2. The bill requires licensing of all incidental network, cache and buffer copies, then denies the licenses to services that enable non-commercial recording

Creativity is being democratized thanks to new technology – but that’s a threat to the old guard big studios and big record labels and they’re using Congress and the courts to try to stop innovative devices.
