"You've Been Stealing From the Artist For Years, Now You Want Me To Stand Up For You?"

That's what Kid Rock told his record label, Warner Music, when they asked him to publicly denounce file sharing. We couldn't have said it better (nor would we want to). Kid Rock has more spot-on observations to offer in a great interview with the BBC, such as "the internet was an opportunity for everyone to be treated fairly, for the consumer to get a fair price, for the artist to be paid fairly, for the record companies to make some money." Reading forward-looking quotes like this from a major label artist is beyond refreshing. This interview is symbolic of what inspires our campaign, and encapsulates everything we stand for.

Kid Rock is free to give away his music online or not. All of that is legal under two Constitutional rights, copyright and speech.

What change are you seeking to "maximize the opportunities" of artists? Free speech and copyright already give them those opportunities under the law Maybe you just wish to bash big labels?

That's fine, feel free to do so, join the crowd. But don't try to suggest that artists who haven't chosen to distribute their works on file-sharing networks haven't had their rights taken from them. This is true however much you may feel, in some in loco parentis way, that they will be better off in the end.
